KAREN C. DUESTER, MS, RD
President & Founder
Karen Duester, president of
Food Consulting Company, combines her education in
nutrition with knowledge of government food labeling
regulations to produce food
labels that fully comply with U.S. labeling laws.
Her expertise saves food packagers time and effort
that can be better invested in other aspects of
marketing and selling food products in the U.S.
marketplace. Most importantly, Karen’s expertise lowers
the risk of hassles and product recalls associated
with labeling compliance.
Karen earned a Bachelor's Degree in Food and
Nutrition from the University of Nebraska, a
Master's Degree in Human Nutrition from Texas
Woman's University, and completed a 16 month
coordinated dietetic internship at Houston V.A.
Medical Center on her way to becoming a registered
dietitian. She has worked at a camp for diabetic
children, as a hospital clinical dietitian, and as a
clinical nutrition manager. Karen was formerly
Vice President of Health Care for Practorcare, Inc., a leading supplier of computer
systems and services for nutrition and food service
management.
In 1993, Karen founded Food Consulting Company, a
company that specializes in nutrition analysis and
food labeling issues. The services of the company
include label compliance packages, product analysis,
preparation of nutrition facts labels and ingredient
statements, assistance with product names and
package claims, label layout sketches, and final
label reviews. Karen’s intimate knowledge of
government regulations and industry trends are
invaluable resources for food manufacturers,
distributors, importers, and package designers who
must create labels correctly the first time.
